Dr. Andrew Barnett

With each and every patient, Dr. Barnett’s goal is the same: to help them fully understand their dental needs and create a customized treatment plan that truly works for them. He wants Lincoln Park Periodontal and Dental Implant Group to be where patients can turn to for world-class treatments, a caring atmosphere, and a team that feels like family.

Before becoming a board-certified periodontist near University Park, Dr. Barnett earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan. When he discovered that dentistry combined all of his passions (science, artistry, and the ability to help others), he chose to pursue his Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. To specialize in surgery, he completed a residency at the University of Michigan, which is where he earned his Masters of Science and Certificate in Periodontics.

Throughout his career, Dr. Barnett has continued to pursue education. In addition to undergoing advanced training on a wide range of topics – from dental implants and periodontal disease to soft tissue grafts and bone augmentation – he is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology.

When he isn’t at the office or completing continuing education courses, you’ll most likely find Dr. Barnett with his wife (who is also a periodontist!) and their two children. He also enjoys traveling, cooking, golfing, and honing his skills on a grill.

Getting your wisdom teeth removed can be a frightening experience. However, I felt like I was in great hands with Mr. Barnett, as well as his staff. Everyone at the office was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and made me feel super comfortable throughout my procedure. 10/10 recommended

What is the best way to find a dentist who does dental implants?

Dental implants replace the root and crown of the tooth, are custom-made for each patient, and have an impressive 30+ year life span – it’s not hard to see why 500,000 patients get them each year! If you’re interested in doing the same, then it’s of the utmost importance that you pick a specialist, like a periodontist.

Dr. Barnett is a highly trained and experienced periodontist. Furthermore, Dr. Barnett is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology. So, if you're interested in rebuilding your smile with dental implants, they are the experts to trust!

What do you do if you can't afford a periodontist?

Our team at Lincoln Park Periodontal and Dental Implant Group don’t want cost to be what stands in your way of getting the quality treatment you deserve, which is why we’re proud to welcome dental insurance and accept flexible financing. With dental insurance, you can utilize your available benefits to lower your out-of-pocket expenses. With flexible financing, you can space out your payments into budget-friendly chunks – sometimes with little-to-no interest attached!

How can I make a same-day appointment with a periodontist?

Do you have a last-minute opening in your schedule? Are your wisdom teeth causing you discomfort and you want to review your treatment options today? The best thing to do is give our team a call. We offer appointments as early as 7am and as late as 5pm throughout the week, increasing our chances of being able to see you as soon as possible. Note: same-day appointments will usually involve determining the root of the problem or reviewing your options. More advanced treatments may require additional visits.

What level of education is required to be a periodontist?

The road to becoming a periodontist begins with a bachelor’s degree, usually in a major that is heavy in math and science. From there, they must attend one of 67 Accredited dental schools in the US. After earning their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS), they specialize in periodontics. To maintain their license to practice, they must pursue advanced training, which is usually done through continuing education courses and active memberships with professional organizations.
