Before becoming a board-certified periodontist near University Park, Dr. Barnett earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan. When he discovered that dentistry combined all of his passions (science, artistry, and the ability to help others), he chose to pursue his Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. To specialize in surgery, he completed a residency at the University of Michigan, which is where he earned his Masters of Science and Certificate in Periodontics.
Throughout his career, Dr. Barnett has continued to pursue education. In addition to undergoing advanced training on a wide range of topics – from dental implants and periodontal disease to soft tissue grafts and bone augmentation – he is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology.
When he isn’t at the office or completing continuing education courses, you’ll most likely find Dr. Barnett with his wife (who is also a periodontist!) and their two children. He also enjoys traveling, cooking, golfing, and honing his skills on a grill.
Dr. Goldberg’s journey to becoming a top-rated periodontist near you began at Baylor College of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, he traveled to New York City, which is where he studied advanced techniques and was Chief Resident. After practicing general dentistry for several years, he returned to Baylor College of Dentistry to specialize in periodontics and implant dentistry.
As an expert in periodontology and implant dentistry, Dr. Goldberg is a highly sought-after lecturer on the local, national, and international levels. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he has also been recognized several times for the outstanding service he provides those in his treatment chair with. That’s because his patient philosophy is simple: to care for his patients like he would his own family.
When he isn’t at our office, Dr. Goldberg enjoys teaching part-time in the Graduate Periodontal Department of Texas A&M College of Dentistry as an Assistant Clinical Professor. He also has a wife, Cyndi, and two grown children, Josh and Jenna.

The road to becoming a periodontist begins with a bachelor’s degree, usually in a major that is heavy in math and science. From there, they must attend one of 67 Accredited dental schools in the US. After earning their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS), they specialize in periodontics. To maintain their license to practice, they must pursue advanced training, which is usually done through continuing education courses and active memberships with professional organizations.
